Kochi, Dec 16: Upbeat over Congress victories in three states in the just concluded Assembly polls, AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said that the good showing by the party has proved its opponents wrong and enthused party workers all over the country.

“Our opponents were propagating that Congress was going to lose in every state. But we proved them wrong. These victories have energised and enthused all workers”, Sonia said addressing the delegate session of the KPCC here.

“If we put our all in fighting the polls, nobody can stop us”, she added.

Urging Congress workers in Kerala to defeat the ruling LDF in the coming Lok Sabha elections, she said the UPA government had launched several major infrastructure projects for the state, including the Vallarpadam Transshipment container terminal project, Vizhinjam project, LNG project and Ezhimala Naval Academy, coming up at Kannur.

The Congress workers must expose the “complete failure” of the LDF government in utilising benefits of vital national programmes like NREGP and loan waiver scheme for the poor, the Congress president said.

Congress ruled states have taken full advantage of the schemes. “But complete inefficiency of LDF government has prevented Kerala from benefiting from these schemes”, Gandhi said.
