Markets flat in choppy trade

The key benchmark indices were flat amid choppy trade today. While some buying interest was seen in auto, oil & gas and power stocks, capital goods and metal counters were under pressure.
The Sensex was trading 141 points higher at 14,395. The Nifty rose 43 points at Rs 4,277. On the sectoral front, the BSE auto index was up 1.1 per cent and the BSE oil & gas index gained 1 per cent.
Among Sensex stocks, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and RIL were the major gainers.
Asia markets were also trading higher today. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and Japan’s Nikkei rose more than 1 per cent each.
