The Himachal Pradesh State Planning Board approved an annual plan size of Rs 3,000 crore for the year 2010-11, proposing a hike of Rs 300 crore from the current plan.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Wednesday.
A final decision on the plan, however, will be taken at a meeting of the CM with Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia by the end of next month.
Earlier, the CM had held detailed discussions with MLAs to draw up broad priorities for the next year’s plan and budget formulations.
An official release said: “The social services sector has been accorded the highest allocation of Rs 1,010.79 crore, which is 33.69 per cent of the total proposed Annual Plan.”
Dhumal said creating of basic infrastructure for education had been accorded priority in the last three years of the 11th Five-Year Plan period and would continue in the next two years to make Himachal Pradesh an education hub.
For transportation and communication services, Rs 588.93 crore has been proposed for 2010-11 in the plan. Based on a survey conducted in 1999-2000, Dhumal said, the road length of 39,045 kilometres was to be constructed to provide road connectivity in remote areas of the state, of which 30,302 km had been constructed by March 2009.
For energy sector, a provision of Rs 354.37 crore has been made for 2010-11.
Chief Secretary Asha Swarup said all secretaries would carry out quarterly review of all developmental schemes to ensure timely spending of funds and accelerate the pace of development. She said directions had been given to all departments to speed up the tendering process so that developmental works were not hampered.
